Cloud Chamber

It looks like a hobbit house, but it's an art installation at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Cloud chamber for the trees and sky is a camera obscura.  You enter the little door, close it and sitting in the dark you can see the trees and sky outside projected on the floor. It is newly opened after a long rebuilding process.  (see here

Hobbit House???

This building is a sculpture in the NC Museum of Art sculpture park called Cloud Chamber for the Trees and Sky by Chris Drury.  It looks like a hobbit house, but it is a camera obscura.  There is a small hole in the roof that acts like a pinhole camera.  Images of the trees and sky are projected into the house.  My sister and I went in, but we didn't want to close the door all the way in case we got stuck in there, so we didn't really see any images.  I think it needs to be very dark.  Next time I'll bring a flashlight.
