Birds of a feather?

The Egret doesn't seem to mind the gaggle of geese that surround him.

 

One

The lone egret at Shelly Lake needs a friend.

 

Two Greats

The Great Egret and the Great Blue Heron share a sandbank.

A great egret was hiding in the pond.

He decided we were too close, and took off.

 

Grumpy

The egret didn't look to happy with the scum on the lake.

 

Diamonds?

Striding through the water, the egret looked like it had diamond shoes.

Instead of the usual Great Blue Heron, a Great Egret was wading in the water.

 

Stay a little longer

Going back to Shelly lake, we found the same great egret in the same place.  He must have decided he likes it here.

 

Visitor

A great egret came to visit at Shelly Lake.

A great blue heron and great egret were hanging out together at Lynn Lake.  They flew off in unison.

The Canals are alive

During a recent trip to Hatteras Island we were amazed at the number of wading birds in the sound.

The Great Egret is hard to see in the picture, but his reflection in the water is easier to see.  He was hiding out on the edge of the mill pond at Yates mill.
