Hermit

We heard a hermit thrush and played its song on our bird app.  The little thrush came flying to a nearby tree and listened.  I think he was looking for a friend.

Muddy puddles

After days (weeks?) of rain, the trails were muddy.  It didn't stop this Hermit Thrush though, he fit right in.

Hermit Thrush

This guy sat around for a long time as I took many shots to get one good one.  I'm sure he thought he was well camouflaged, and he was right.

Camouflage

Even when I saw him, it was hard to see this Hermit Thrush.  He was perfectly colored to disappear in the leaf litter.

Hermit Thrush

Cornell lab of ornithology describes this bird as a "pot-bellied thrush"  and yes, he had his belly puffed out.  He was happy to sit in the tree and pose for me.
