We heard a hermit thrush and played its song on our bird app. The little thrush came flying to a nearby tree and listened. I think he was looking for a friend.

Muddy puddles
After days (weeks?) of rain, the trails were muddy. It didn't stop this Hermit Thrush though, he fit right in.

Hermit Thrush
This guy sat around for a long time as I took many shots to get one good one. I'm sure he thought he was well camouflaged, and he was right.

Camouflage
Even when I saw him, it was hard to see this Hermit Thrush. He was perfectly colored to disappear in the leaf litter.

Hermit Thrush
Cornell lab of ornithology describes this bird as a "pot-bellied thrush" and yes, he had his belly puffed out. He was happy to sit in the tree and pose for me.
