Empty bench

I've never seen someone actually sitting on this bench, but why not?  The view is spectacular.

On a hot day, a bench in the shade is welcome.

The arboretum has plenty of places to contemplate and rest.

A quiet bench on a hot day.

A quiet place to sit, or a claustrophobic's nightmare.  A sculpture at the Raleigh Iron Works.

 

Lounge?

An interesting place to sit.  Unfortunately the cushions were sopping wet.

 

Rain

A quiet place to sit to watch the raindrops on the lake.

Another picture from my granddaughter.  Kids have a much more creative viewpoint.

Or ten.  It was warm enough in the sun to stop and take a rest.

Or rather, in the native plants.  This bench seemed overwhelmed by the grasses.

 

Lookout point

A restful place to look out over the confluence of the Neuse River and Crabtree Creek at Anderson Point Park.

 

Have a seat

A good place to view the azaleas.

 

Lonely picnic

At the top of the largest hill at Green Hills Park you can have a windy picnic overlooking the county waste disposal site.  Hmmm.

 

After the rain

We got over 5 inches of rain in the last storm.  Shelly lake was very high.  The benches were in the lake!

 

View point

There were quite a few people out enjoying Shelly Lake.  But there was still room for quiet contemplation.

Capt. Bob's Bait & Tackle

Here's a bench to catch fishermen in a lie.

The seat was a lie detector, with inches marked off.  I'm not sure a fisherman couldn't still make a good story.

Hopeless???

I first caught the word "HOPE"  on this bench.  On second look realized it was "DON'T HOPE".  I can't read the rest of the words, but I'm hoping that it turns around again to a positive spin.

The Raleigh rose garden gives ample opportunity.

And many benches to use for contemplation.

Reading Bemch

I don't think this is an especially cozy bench, but the theme is definately storytime.

This bench looks like it's growing around you.  As if you sat too long you'd be engulfed.
