Find the frog

He was so small we had trouble seeing him until he moved.

Do you see him?

 

Tiny

He was hopping as fast as he could trying to get across the path.  He moved almost like a cricket.  And he was about the size of one too.

 

Bullfrog

We always look for frogs in the wetlands.  This one was quietly waiting for flies.

 

For Sale?

During a visit to the nursery for garden plants, we found this little frog in one of the pots.  Was he for sale?

 

Finally a frog

We always look for frogs when we walk around a lake.  We can hear the bullfrogs croak, but rarely see them.  This one was generous enough to pose for a picture.

King of the pond

A classic bullfrog pose.  He was as still as a statue.

This bullfrog seemed pretty small.

But not as small as his younger brothers.

This frog was happy on his log until I got too close.  Plop and he was gone.

This bullfrog looks like he's wearing a leaf.  It matches his spots.

His coloring and his golden eyes make him look like a bronze statue.

It was hard to spot this bullfrog, but it wasn't hard to hear him.

This American Bullfrog (see here) had a lot of friends hiding out in the weeds making a lot of noise.

Green Treefrog

He was just sitting on a twig enjoying the weather.  Aptly named, a Green Treefrog.

Just another rock?

I had to look closely in the gravel for this little guy.  I saw him jump, and then lost him when he sat still, pretending to be a rock.

He's a great advertisement.

Frog or Toad?

If I hadn't seen him jump, I wouldn't have noticed him.  He was the size of a quarter, and well camouflaged.  I think he's an American Toad (here), but it's hard to tell.

Door frog

This frog looks like he's just crawled onto the front door of my neighbor's house.  I just noticed him lately although I've walked past the house every day.  How could I miss this creature?

Surprise frog

I took this picture of the water plant at the North Carolina Zoo, and didn't notice the little green frog until I got it onto the computer.  I never would have seen it if I hadn't blown up the picture.
I think he's a Green Treefrog, even though he's not on a tree.

Guardian of the flowerbed

We've seen this guy before, when there was nothing blooming.  Now I see that he is the guardian of the flowerbed.  The latest of his charges are little white flowers.  Earlier in the spring it was the daffodills.

He seems to take his job very seriously.
