Ruddy

A pair of ruddy ducks made a trail across the lake.

 

Dive

A group of diving ducks swam around in the lake.

Every time I was ready to snap the picture, all I could see was the tail as they disappeared.

Finally I caught one between dives.

Duck Days

The migrating ducks are back at the lake along with the regulars.

Buffleheads,

Ruddy Ducks,

our ever present Mallards,

and a lone Cormorant.

This little Ruddy Duck was diving in the lake with her friends.  They must have just arrived in Raleigh. (see here)

This is the time of year we get to see some different ducks.  They've abandoned the north woods, and come south.

This Ruddy Duck looks like a decoy to me.
