And also hiding in the leaf litter


Stepping off the trail to get a closer look at the creek, this guy suddenly slithered out and into the creek.


Not a copperhead, he's a Northern Water Snake. But that didn't stop our hearts from racing at the surprise.

    Oh my yes, Northern Water Snakes don't live down here, but copperheads sure do, and your photo stopped me in my tracks. Well, not really, as I kept on scrolling. Still having to swallow twice as that would be a very healthy fat copperhead....nice that it wasn't.
