Their old nest collapsed, but they found a new tree and rebuilt. We saw them both flying and then one by one they settled into the nest. The last one in had a fish in its talons. Feeding babies maybe?

Back already
The eagles are back at Shelly Lake, and so are the photographers. When I see a gathering of cameras with very large lenses, I know there's an eagle somewhere close. The photographers always generously point it out for me.

Off he goes
The heron gave a squawk when the eagle landed on its beach.
The heron didn't scare the eagle, but a splashing goose did. Off he flew.

Eaglets
The eagle chicks are poking out of the nest. I think there are at least two, one is hunkered down on the right and hard to see. They're pretty big birds already.

Eagle
With a loud squawk, the heron flew off.
The little killdeers tried valiantly to chase him off.
Bored at last, the eagle flew to the top of a tree.
And surveyed his kingdom with eagle eyes.

Momma Eagle watches the nest
The eagles are nesting at Shelly Lake. Momma watched from a nearby snag, took off and circled away.

Eagle's nest
The bald eagle parents were still on lookout near the nest. But this time there were two young eagles sitting just out of the nest.

Ready for next spring
This bald eagle's nest has raised many seasons of young. It's empty now, waiting for the next brood in the spring.
