All seasons?
I guess stores need to be prepared for all holidays. I think September is a little early for Halloween, but Christmas is creeping in.

50% off
After every holiday comes the sale.
The Uncle Sam Gnomes must not have been a big seller.
Or the patriotic hand towels.

Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween!
I never thought that Halloween was a time to decorate your house, but the neighbors are really getting into it!

Christmas time already!
I found these last week in September! Lowe's has all their Christmas decorations for sale already.
Blow-up Yeti's, Snowmen (including Olaf), reindeer, light up Santa, and these little Christmas village buildings.
What happened to Thanksgiving?

Happy Fourth
I know, I know. Not very original. In fact it's the same picture I posted last year. But what are you going to do...

Juneteenth in Apex
Juneteenth is our newest national holiday! It celebrates the day that enslaved people in Texas were set free. For many it is the equivalent to Independence day for Black people.
Apex is a gentrified town outside of Raleigh. This was their first Juneteenth celebration.
With face painting,
dancing, and more.
The Apex police department was there along with Black Lives Matter. Everyone had a good time.

Happy Thanksgiving
We walked through the neighborhood looking for Thanksgiving decorations. There weren't very many.

Memorial Day
The view from the House of Memory in Oakwood's Confederate Cemetery.
This cemetery was started in 1869 to inter North Carolina's Confederate dead.

Happy Thanksgiving!
We made these little turkeys yesterday in the refugee ESL class I teach. The tails are outlines of their hands, and they wrote things they are thankful for on the tail feathers. Home, Family, Safety, God, Church, School, Teacher.
If only all refugees could have these simple things.

Veterans Day
Fort Macon protected Beaufort Harbor from Pirates, Yankees, Confederates and German U-Boats. The cannons are still pointed out into the inlet channel. See more here.

Happy Fourth!
As I've shown before, it seems to be very important to have a wreath on your front door. This one was particularly appropriate for the fourth of July.
