Lighthouses are special in North Carolina. This garden sculpture could be the Hatteras lighthouse with the spiral design.

Lighthouses
On a recent trip to the Outer Banks, we stopped at a few lighthouses.
Bodie lighthouse is my favorite. Not quite so crowded as Hatteras.
But Hatteras is the classic.
Each lighthouse has a different black and white pattern on it so that sailors could tell which lighthouse they were looking at.
Okracoke lighthouse is smaller but charming.

For the birds?
The Arboretum had a bird house competition during their spring festival. Some of the bird houses looked usable, and some not so much. Either way they were fun to look at. Above is one called "Carolina Keys"
What is more Carolinian than a light house?
This one has the pattern of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse.
