On Thin Ice


Five days after our recent snow, after a string of cold days and nights there's still a skim of ice on the lake.  Enough for a gull to stand on.  I think it's too thin for anything else.

Frozen


The cold front that swept the country during Christmas got to Raleigh as well.  Most of Shelly Lake froze.  The sea gulls had to stand on the ice.

Into the wind


It was breezy on the lake, and the sea gulls lined up into the wind.

Log rolling gulls


I don't think they meant to do it, but every time the log they stood on rolled, the gulls did a little dance.

Windy day



It was a windy day on Falls Lake.  The rain was moving in, and the sea gulls were having a great time soaring around.
