On Thin Ice

Five days after our recent snow, after a string of cold days and nights there's still a skim of ice on the lake.  Enough for a gull to stand on.  I think it's too thin for anything else.

It's a piece of ice floating on Durant park lake.

 

Towhee

The birds might fly south to us in the winter, but sometimes it gets cold here too.  This towhee found a sheltered spot in the bird feeder.

This cardinal looked like he couldn't believe what's falling from the sky.

 

Icy sparrow

During yesterday's ice storm the birds were busily eating every seed they could find.

This little white throated sparrow and his friends were hopping under the bird feeder.

 

Icicle

A little bit of ice dripping into a pond.

We've had our little bit of winter, with temps in the 20's.  

Frost on the kale
