Playing catch up

This little killdeer was running along the spit.  I think he was trying to join his friends at the end of the spit.

Killdeer

Their usual sand spit was covered with water, so the killdeer had to find new places to explore.

Eagle

The lake was peaceful, until a bald eagle decided to come visiting.

With a loud squawk, the heron flew off.

The little killdeers tried valiantly to chase him off.

Bored at last, the eagle flew to the top of a tree.

And surveyed his kingdom with eagle eyes.

Me and my shadow

It was a lone Killdeer.  The only one at the lake.
Does his reflection keep him company?

Camouflaged

We wouldn't have noticed the killdeers except for the racket they were making.  Calling to each other across the lake.

Killdeer

This killdeer just stood on one foot watching the tennis ball.  Does it think it's a friend?

Killdeers

These two killdeers were hanging out together on the edge of Lake Lynn.

They blend in with the mud very well.

Killdeer

These little guys run around at water's edge.  They're hard to notice because they are the same color as their background.  Good adaptation.
