Black Cherry


This is a black cherry tree.  It is native to the Eastern US,  (see here)  The fruit is safe to eat, but the leaves contain cyanide and are poisonous.

    We have a similar tree in our garden which we call a Cherry Laurel that has poisonous leaves but I don't think they are they same.
