Kinglet

A little ruby crowned kinglet bopped around in the bushes.  

 

Gold

A lady goldfinch hopped around in the twigs.  Her bright colored husband was no where to be seen.

 

Pine Siskin

Where else would you find a Pine Siskin but in the pinecones and needles?

 

And it continues

 

This fall has been long and slow.  There are still a few stragglers hanging on to their leaves.

The theme for December is "Slow".  What goes slower than a turtle.  

 

Phoebe

A phoebe in the weeds.

 

Coneflower

The tall coneflower was really tall.

 

Nuthatch

This whitebreasted nuthatch was checking things out from the safety of a pine tree.

 

Panic grass

This native grass has a great name: Beaked Panic grass.  (don't believe me? see here.)

From flowers to birds, yellow seems to be the color right now.

Downy

 

This little downy woodpecker was clinging to the metal pole holding up a bird feeder.  He'd get quite a headache drumming on it.

Boney fingers

The tree branches looked like they were reaching down to their reflection.

 

Sky

Just an interesting sky.

 

Old stump

This stump has been there a long time.  There's not too much left.

 

Busy

This little downy woodpecker was working very hard on the tree.  

 

Warbler

 

We've seen a lot of these bright yellow pine warblers lately.
