An Osprey soared over the lake.  Maybe looking for a tasty fish?

This osprey was flying around the lake.

He landed in a tree, then went back to flying.

He would fly into the wind and then do a strange fluttery thing.

I think he was practicing hovering.

Noisy Neighbors

On a hot weekend, Falls Lake was busy with people having fun and staying cool.  I think the osprey must have moved out of their nest by now.  They don't like noisy neighbors.

The osprey was diving for fish in Shelly Lake.

Raleigh has huge power lines running through many of the greenways.  This power pole sits over the Neuse river.  It has become a home for a nesting osprey.
