After the rain

We had a violent rainstorm last night.  But this morning the sun is shining.

On the roses

azaleas

And yellow jessamine.

What is it?

Can you tell?  

Rain drops? yes.  

Pine needles? yes.

Spring Rain

It's been an up and down spring, rainy and cool, and then sunny and warm.  It makes a nice relief both ways.

Rainy spring

We've had a lot of rainy weather lately.  It hasn't stopped the first early flowers from coming out.

Kale in the rain

Kale seems to be able to survive a lot of cool weather.  I liked the way the misty rain beaded up on the leaf.

Diamonds in the holly hedge

Recently we had a gentle misty day.  The spider webs on the holly hedge were loaded up with water drops.  It looked like the whole hedge was hung with diamonds.

Wet

I caught these holly berries after a rain.   They were still wet in the sun.

Refraction

Science lesson...(I can't help it!)

When light goes through a medium it refracts (bends) depending on the speed of light in that medium.  As the sunlight goes through the water drop it bends.  The flare shows the place where the light is focused and then escapes from the water drop...How's that for a science lesson?  

After a rain

Found this little flower on a large bush. Looking them up, I found out they are Chinese Fringe Flower, Loropetalum.  They are native to China, Japan and the Himalayas.  It was introduced in the US in the 1980's.  They're all over this area, most of the time they just look like an evergreen bush.  Then, in the spring they turn pink with flowers.
