Yellow Garden Spider


This rather large beauty has been sitting in the garden for a few days now.  He's a Yellow Garden Spider, Argiope aurantia.  (see here)
Here he is from the back.  

Fall is definitely spider time here in Raleigh.

    I am not afraid of spiders but nor am I a fan. Provided they stick to the garden like your spider I am happy. I once too a photo of a spider too small to see and when I blew it up discovered it had spots and pointy bits on its body so now I poke my camera at them just in case.
