Pollen in the pond

A rainstorm washed the pine pollen into the pond.  I wouldn't like to be a duck right now.

Pollen season is on its way.  These Loblolly pines are ready to send out their yellow smoke.

It's pollen season!

The biggest contributor are the pine trees.  Everything is covered in gritty yellow pollen from the Loblolly pines.  This privet is doing its part also.

Pollen in the lake

The wind pushed pollen that fell into swirly patterns on the edge of Falls Lake.  

The air was smokey with pollen.

Every spring, the sidewalks, cars, and everything outside gets a layer of yellow pollen.  The trees each have a week or two when they send out clouds of yellow pollen.  Maples, Birch, Hickory (above) and most of all Loblolly Pines make the ground turn yellow.

There's a yellow haze in the air.  After a rain the pollen washes into the ponds and streams.  Here a turtle basks out of the pollen.

Pollen season!

The air is yellow with pollen these days.  Driving between rows of pines, it looks like a foggy day.   The sidewalks are dusty yellow.  The birches are also getting in the game.  Brushing under the branches makes you gritty and yellow. It makes you long for a rainy day when the pollen is washed out of the air.
