cloud shadow


As the sun started to go down behind a cloud I saw the shadow of the cloud make streaks across the sky.  The darker lines aren't gaps in the clouds, they're the shadow of one cloud shading the other clouds in the sky.

It was only a thunderhead built up by a humid hot day.  But at sunset above the trees, it looked like an ominous cloud of doom...

Sunset with stripes


The lines in the picture are contrails, but they were going in the same direction as the clouds so it looked like a striped sky.
