Hummer

She didn't have a red throat, but I'm pretty sure she's a Ruby Throated hummingbird.

She was very curious about us, and hovered and watched for quite a while.

Japanese Garden?

Japanese garden?  Nope, it's a farm pond.
I've always thought that Japanese gardens were beautiful, but too perfect.  They didn't seem natural to me.  But here, a farm pond has the look of a stylized garden.

Mountains to Sea

Blue Jay Point Park is a stop on the Mountains to Sea Trail (here)  The trail runs 1175 miles from the Great Smokey Mountains to the sea at Jockey's Ridge State Park on the Outer Banks.  You can see most of the state along the way.

Busy wetland

The mushy, marshy wetlands on the edge of Lake Lynn was buzzing with life.  A Blue Skimmer sat on a twig.

This Eastern Amberwing didn't sit for long.

This Common Whitetail skimmer cast a shadow in the murky water.

This Stream Bluet took a ride on a turtle.
